Jake Shears to wed his BF. Happy. Sad. Happy.

SCISSOR MISTERS
Jake to marry.. in campest-ever bash Kylie, disco, Little Britain and Shears overkill for NY do
Zoe 29/07/2007

I'm awaiting my invite to what is set to be the most glam wedding of 2008 - the fabulously OTT Scissor Sister Jake Shears is getting hitched to his boyfriend Chris.

Elton John's posh Windsor wedding to David Furnish will look like a granny's garden party compared to plans Jake has in store for his big day next year.

Kylie, Matt Lucas and Little Britain's David Walliams and Geri Halliwell have been ordered to clear their diaries for a "glorious" day in Springtime in New York. The ceremony itself will be in nearby New Jersey where same sex marriage is legal. I hope the guests pack their sunglasses as Jake has been talking about making it technicolour, with brightly coloured daffodils and tulips, a striped wedding suit, a flock of white doves and confetti at the beginning and end. Jake, whose band sold out three nights at Greenwich's O2 arena last week, popped the question after splashing out on a love nest in New York with Chris.

It's the icing on the cake for the eight-year relationship between Jake and Chris, a Yale art student. Chris has so far kept out of the public eye by refusing to be photographed with Jake or revealing his surname in interviews.

A pal of the Ta Dah hitmaker told me: "They are both blissfully happy with their apartment and the wedding is the next thing. They're ready to show everyone they're together.

"The apartment was a big commitment for Jake and Chris because it's a large place in Tribeca - Manhattan's coolest district.

"A wedding just takes it all on to another level, but one thing is for sure - it will be fabulous. They have a bit of time until next year to pick the best of everything." However, Jake - who once said he wanted to get married at Glastonbury - has already started thinking about music and has asked bandmates Ana Matronic, BabyDaddy, Del Marquis and Paddy Boom to record a special song.

I trust all the guests will feel like dancin'.
