celebrity spottings

K-Fed! K-Fed! K-Fed!

Was it really true? Yes, as I live and breath, I was outside work smoking talking to Yvonne on the phone, and who walks out of the mall and stands right in front of me and lights up? That's right, Mr. Britney Spears!

I wasn't star-truck. In fact, I was more suprised that I recognized him. He is as trashy in person as he is in the tabs though.
Unfortunately his disaster of a wife wasn't with him.
Like watching a train wreck.

this week's book: Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer

I'm only 75 pages into it, but I can't recommend this book enough!

Nine-year old Oskar Schell has embarked on an urgent, secret mission that will take him through the five burroughs of New York. His goal is to find the lock that matches a mysterious key that belonged to his father, who died in the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11. This seemingly impossible task will bring Oskar into contact with survivors of all sorts on an exhilarating, affecting, often hilarious, and ultimately healing journey.

"Foer is definitely a new sort of literary warrior - virtuosic, visionary, ingenious, hilarious, heartbreaking. He brings an astonishing array of firepower to the page."
- Village Voice

overheard conversations

woman 1: "i haven't seen you at church in a while!"
woman 2: no response
woman 1 : "well, i have been there and i've been praying for you," as she patted woman 2's arm.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! This pisses me off!
Now, in this situation, I guess one could make the assumption that they may have similar beliefs. With that in mind, woman 2 could have appreciated this comment. However, if she hasn't been to church in a while, maybe there is a reason for it. Maybe she just hasn't been to woman 1's church. To me it is such a judgemental comment. My reaction could be directly related to my Southern Baptist upbringing - but that is another entry. I firmly believe that everyone has a right to believe what they want to believe, and if you want to pray for someone else, think about them while you meditate, send them happy thoughts, you have every right, but maybe you don't need to tell them about it. Isn't it enough that you are doing it? Do you need to be recognized for your generosity?

So, if anyone is praying for me, please keep it to yourself!

Goldfrapp on Leno, Monday March 13

Don't miss it!

so sad! so dramatic! i admit i cried

hot!
Did she really have to die?
Poor Alice.

Why is it that both the L Word and Queer as Folk have the WORST theme songs? Ughh. I cringe every time. Is that really how lesbians live? I'm refering to the song of course. Samm, can you answer that? ;)

On a lighter note, Shane really is incredibly hot. I know this is old news, but I just felt like reiterating that. She's the kind of woman that I would see on the street, from some distance, and think - dammit he is really cute... and then realize "he" was in fact a cute lesbian. I've done that so many times.

I CAN'T wait for the season finale!

i'm too tired to say much about last night, other than it was a blast! it was like Mary's at my house, but better - cause it's my house! I didn't have to go anywhere. And I got to dj. So enjoy some lovely photos. There aren't too many - I was too busy dj-ing, dancing, or chatting.

march glam slam dance happenin'

A la Parker Posey in Party Girl (at least in my mind), i'm busy turning the place into a club for a slightly impromptu dance party tomorrow night. Impromptu has turned into the possibility that not too many people will be able to be here. Notheless, the doors will be open at ten for all that want to join us. Hopefully lady bunny will be seen at the front door looking for her ear ring. I've been working on playlists - one on itunes, to be played from the computer, the other an on-the-go playlist on my ipod to be played from the creature II. it's the closest i can get to mixing and having a real dj set - something i've always dreamt of doing. It's also a bit about my desire to have my own club one day. Silly, maybe, but should be fun. Music, friends, booze, what else could I ask for?

I just wish I was ale to bring in all my friends from around the world to join us. It's sorta my early birthday party - since I'll be in Chicago right before my birthday (and also my birthday is on a Tuesday). But more about having the people I love around me.

So hopefully noone pisses in the shower, and the police don't come.

key songs on the playlist (the first has 96 songs, the second about 50 - I think I need to do some editing - but that will mostly happen live - once I get the feel of the "crowd" and the night)

goldfrapp goldfrapp goldfrapp!
ooh la la, number 1, train, strict machine
madonna
sorry (psb remix), hung up
prince
kiss, when doves cry, erotic city
bjork - there's more to life than this
scissor sisters
deee-lite

oh there is just too many!

this was Kyle's evite response, my favorite so far:
This is the wes' side (of Moreland) declaring a dance war on da eas' side. "Get on the floor, baby lose control..." I'll be Madonna and her posse and you can be Brittany. Let me see if John Paul will git my back.

I told him I am so NOT britney!
